Panic gripped residents of the Ota-Ona area in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Monday afternoon following the collapse of an uncompleted two-storey building, leaving several people trapped beneath the rubble.
According to eyewitness accounts, including a Facebook post by Rasheed Adedeji Fatuga, the building—located directly opposite the Mobil Filling Station (formerly Bugon Filling Station)—suddenly caved in, prompting frantic efforts to rescue those trapped.
As of the time of filing this report, five victims have been rescued alive from the debris. However, the number of people still trapped remains unclear.
Emergency response teams are currently at the scene, conducting intensive rescue operations in a bid to save more lives.
The cause of the collapse has yet to be officially confirmed.
