Liverpool Football Club have officially completed the signing of Dutch international Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £29.5 million.
The 23-year-old right-back sealed a long-term contract with the Reds after successfully undergoing a medical at the AXA Training Centre on Friday.
Frimpong, who impressed in the Bundesliga with his pace and attacking flair, expressed his excitement about joining the Merseyside club.
“It went quite easy. Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer,” Frimpong told Liverpoolfc.com.
“For me, it was like, ‘Whatever you guys do, just get this done.’ I told my agents, ‘Just get this done.’”
In a message to the fans, the former Manchester City youth player pledged his commitment and passion.
“Liverpool fans, I’m going to give my all—my energy, my work-rate—and hopefully we can win together, celebrate together, and achieve everything together. I’m just excited to be here. Thank you for accepting me. I won’t let you down.”
Frimpong’s arrival adds depth and dynamism to Liverpool’s defensive line as the club continues to strengthen ahead of the new season.
