Babcock University has officially dismissed Master Oladipupo Siwajuola over multiple violations of university regulations, following a thorough investigation and disciplinary review.
The University revealed that Oladipupo exited campus early May, without proper authorization or notification to any staff or students.
His disappearance sparked public attention after his mother began posting allegations on social media from May 3, accusing the University of negligence and complicity in the matter.
However, on May 15, Oladipupo was returned to the University by his father. Upon arrival, he was invited by the University’s Security Services Department, where he voluntarily provided a detailed written statement explaining the circumstances of his disappearance.
According to his statement, Oladipupo admitted to intentionally sneaking off campus during a peak movement period, disguising himself in a hoodie as an out-patient to exit through the University Teaching Hospital gate.
He spent two nights in the Ilishan community before traveling to Lagos, where he stayed with a friend named Sodiq. Contrary to claims by his mother that he was found by secondary school friends, Oladipupo clarified that it was Sodiq’s mother who discovered he was reported helped facilitate his return.
He further confessed to purchasing a black soap from a traditional herbalist named Alfa Yusuf for nearly ₦100,000, contradicting his mother’s claim that it was for a skin condition. Oladipupo admitted to engaging in fetish practices, popularly referred to as “Yahoo Yahoo Plus,” and to peddling prohibited drug substances on campus before his disappearance.
He was also found to have impersonated another student using their National Identification Number to open a bank account and sold his phone under false pretenses.
In addition, he disclosed borrowing ₦500,000 from an online loan platform to fund gambling activities.
The University’s disciplinary committee found him guilty of several misconducts, including: Unauthorized exit (Exeat violation), Possession and use of fetish materials, Drug peddling, Impersonation and dishonesty, Unauthorized sale of personal property.
“In view of the gravity of these misconducts, and in line with the provisions of University’s disciplinary policy aimed at maintaining a safe, secure, and morally sound learning environment, the University has taken the difficult but necessary decision to dismiss Master Oladipupo Siwajuola from the University with immediate effect. He reserves the right to appeal the decision in accordance with the University guidelines for same stated in the Students Handbook.
“We understand the emotional implications for the family, but our foremost duty is to ensure the welfare and moral integrity of our student community,” said Dr. Joshua Suleiman, Director of Marketing and Communication. “Babcock University remains committed to fairness, transparency, and discipline.”
The institution also addressed the public backlash it received from Oladipupo’s mother, labeling her accusations as malicious and unfounded. However, the University stated that, in view of the responsible conduct displayed by Oladipupo’s father, it will not pursue legal action for libel at this time.
Babcock University reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, character formation, and moral integrity. The University encouraged parents and guardians to instill in their children values of accountability and uprightness and called on the public to disregard misinformation circulating about the case.
