On dawn’s horizon, hope took flight,
A nation stirred, hearts burned bright, the people dreamed,
A future forged where justice gleamed.
Yet power trembled, gripped by fear,
Dark hands erased what was so clear.
The people’s choice was cast aside,
Their voices drowned, their fate denied.

MKO stood, defiant, bold,
His vision vast, his purpose told.
Though bound in chains, his spirit soared,
His name became a sacred word.
The streets echoed with cries and pain,
Yet freedom surged like summer rain.
Through anguish deep and trials long,
The people’s will remained so strong.
The years rolled on, the struggle stayed,
Till tyranny bowed and hope relayed.
Now June 12 stands, a beacon high,
A tale of triumph, reaching sky.
O Nigeria, hold fast, stay true,
To those who fought, the brave, the few.
For freedom breathes where courage lay,
And justice walks on *Democracy Day.
