In a demonstration of its continued commitment to the health and welfare of inmates, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has successfully carried out hernia surgeries on eleven inmates at the Kuje Custodial Centre, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The medical procedures were conducted by a team of skilled Correctional medical personnel on the 8th and 9th of June, 2025.
The outreach was marked by strict adherence to clinical standards and professionalism, underscoring the Service’s dedication to providing quality healthcare for persons in custody in line with global best practices and human rights protocols.
The Controller of Corrections, FCT Command, Controller OD Ajibogun, lauded the medical team for their expertise and commitment. He emphasized that the health and well-being of inmates remains a top priority for the Service.

According to him, the surgeries not only alleviated pain and discomfort for the affected inmates but also enhanced their overall quality of life during incarceration.
Ajibogun further noted that the successful execution of the procedures reflects the vision of the Controller General of Corrections, SN Nwakuche, who remains committed to the reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration of inmates into society as responsible and productive individuals.
The Nigerian Correctional Service remains steadfast in its mission to provide humane and secure custody, while upholding the rights and dignity of all persons in its care, said NCoS
