The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to officially launch its campaign for the upcoming July 12 Local Government Elections with a flag-off ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, at the party’s State Secretariat in Ogba.
The event will feature the formal presentation of candidates and the symbolic handing over of party flags to Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councilorship candidates across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas, 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and 377 wards.
According to a statement by the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo, the campaign has been strategically decentralized along the three senatorial districts of Lagos – East, Central, and West. Due to its expansive size, Lagos West has been further divided into two zones for easier campaign coordination.
The flag-off ceremony is expected to be attended by key party stakeholders, including chieftains, elected officials, and appointees across the three tiers of government.
In preparation for the campaign, the APC had earlier directed local party leadership to establish Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) tasked with grassroots mobilization. These committees are expected to drive the campaign to every part of the state to ensure broad voter engagement and support.
The APC campaign, Oladejo noted, will highlight the achievements of outgoing council administrations, ongoing social intervention programs, and renewed commitments aligned with the party’s progressive agenda.
He further urged residents of Lagos State to fulfill their civic responsibilities by turning out en masse to vote on election day, emphasizing the role of participation in deepening democratic governance.
In line with electoral guidelines, the campaign will conclude a day before the election.
