The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Monday embarked on the spot assessment to Benue State following recent attacks that claimed several lives.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP commiserated with the State Governor, His Excellency Hyacinth Iormem Alia, condemning the killings as “senseless and an act of terrorism.”
He assured the government and people of the state of the Police Force’s firm commitment to restoring peace and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The IGP also visited Yelwata Community in Guma LGA, assessed the damage, and engaged community leaders alongside the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa.

He announced the immediate deployment of additional tactical teams and assets, placing DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, in charge of operations.
Addressing officers at the State Command Headquarters in Makurdi, the IGP pledged enhanced welfare and logistics support, reaffirming the Police’s resolve to secure Benue and other affected areas in line with the agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The Nigeria Police Force called for calm and cooperation from residents as security efforts intensify.
