The Ogun State Government has restated its dedication to world-class infrastructure development with the announcement of the full operational readiness of the Gateway International Airport, poised to cater to both business and leisure travel.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Governor Dapo Abiodun described the airport as a strategic asset central to the state’s ambition of becoming Nigeria’s premier industrial and transportation hub.
He highlighted several key features of the facility, including a Category 9 fire cover, an expansive apron capable of handling large cargo aircraft, premium VIP lounges, a fully equipped fire service station, and a modern control tower.
“These features reflect our administration’s unwavering resolve to drive economic activity, enhance global connectivity, and create employment opportunities for our people,” the governor said.
Governor Abiodun emphasized that the airport symbolizes the state’s broader vision of economic transformation. “The Gateway International Airport stands as a bold testament to our vision of positioning Ogun State as Nigeria’s leading industrial and transportation gateway—connecting our people to jobs, commerce, and global opportunities,” he stated.
The airport is expected to attract both domestic and international airlines, facilitate cargo movement, and meet the increasing demand for corporate and private aviation services across the region.
