Tensions between Israel and Iran escalated further on Wednesday as Israel claimed it had struck a nuclear facility near Tehran, prompting Iran to retaliate with hypersonic missile launches in a continued exchange of fire now entering its sixth day.
The confrontation intensified just hours after former U.S. President Donald Trump publicly demanded Iran’s surrender.
In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, vowed his nation would show “no mercy” toward Israel’s leadership.
Despite the ongoing conflict, Trump maintained that the United States has played no role in Israel’s offensive, though he issued a stern warning, stating his patience is “wearing thin.”
The current round of hostilities began last Friday when Israel launched a wide-ranging bombing campaign. Iran responded swiftly with a barrage of missiles and drone attacks.
In a significant escalation, the Israeli military issued warnings to civilians in one district of Tehran to evacuate for their safety. Hours later, Israeli warplanes reportedly conducted airstrikes in the Iranian capital early Wednesday morning.
The unfolding conflict has sparked international concern, raising fears of a broader regional confrontation.
