After weeks of internal consultations, the Nigeria National Coalition Group (NNCG) has officially submitted an application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the registration of a new political party named All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
The application, dated June 19, 2025, and received by INEC on June 20, was signed by Chief Akin A. Rickets, the Protem National Chairman of the association. A copy of the letter, obtained by Politics Nigeria, outlines the coalition’s objectives and the rationale behind the proposed party.
“We respectfully write to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, requesting the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance, ADA, as a political party,” the letter states. “This is sequel to the decision taken by the Nigerian National Coalition Group to sponsor our association for full registration.”
According to the document, the party’s full name will be All Democratic Alliance (ADA), with the slogan “Justice for All”. The location of its national secretariat is indicated on the association’s official letterhead submitted with the application.
The NNCG also submitted accompanying materials including the party logo — which incorporates specific colour symbolism and the image of corn (maize) — as well as the ADA’s manifesto, constitution, party flag, and minutes of meetings held in support of the registration.
“We have further attached our manifesto encompassing details of our party ideology, and our constitution providing the legal framework that defines our identity, structures and organization,” the letter reads, citing alignment with Section 40 and 222 of the Constitution, Section 75 of the Electoral Act (2022), and other democratic principles.
The group expressed hope for prompt action by the commission, concluding:
“While we eagerly await further action from the commission on the next step forward towards attaining our desired goal, please accept the consideration of our highest respect.”
The Nigeria National Coalition Group is reportedly composed of several prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, among others — signaling a potentially significant development on Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
