In a dramatic escalation of regional tensions, Israeli Air Force fighter jets launched precision strikes on several high-value targets in Tehran early this morning.
The operation, reportedly carried out with intelligence support from Israel’s Directorate of Military Intelligence, targeted headquarters and strategic assets belonging to Iran’s Internal Security Forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Among the key sites struck was the Basij headquarters—one of the IRGC’s core power centers. The Basij force plays a critical role in enforcing Iran’s Islamic code of conduct and monitoring civil obedience, including reporting citizens to authorities for violations.
The strike is seen as a symbolic and strategic blow to the regime’s internal control mechanisms.
Also targeted was the “Albarez” Brigade, tasked with defending several cities within Tehran Province and ensuring regime stability amid domestic and external threats. Israeli forces further hit facilities associated with the Intelligence and General Security Police, integral components of Iran’s broader internal security architecture.
Military analysts say these strikes deal a significant blow to the Iranian regime’s command infrastructure, both in terms of operational capability and psychological impact.
In a related development, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), expressed concern over the fate of roughly 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% by Iran. “It is imperative to verify whether the enriched uranium was destroyed in the recent U.S. strike on Fordow or if it has been relocated,” Grossi stated. Iranian authorities, however, claim the material has been safely hidden.
Amid these tensions, Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, announced on Monday that Tehran is suspending all cooperation with the IAEA.
The move marks a sharp turn in Iran’s stance toward international nuclear oversight and adds a new layer of uncertainty to the region’s already volatile security landscape.
