Tragedy Strikes as Three Die in Separate Accidents in Kano |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Tragedy struck Bazabe Quarters in Albasu Local Government Area of Kano State as two men, Usman Muhammad and Ibrahim Inuwa, lost their lives in a pit latrine accident, plunging the community into mourning.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, who briefed journalists on the development.

According to Abdullahi, the Takai Fire Service Station received a distress call from Inspector Auwalu reporting the incident. A rescue team was immediately deployed to the scene.

Upon arrival, the team found that 40-year-old Usman Muhammad had accidentally dropped his mobile phone into the latrine and had attempted to retrieve it. His friend, Ibrahim Inuwa, tried to rescue him by tying a rope around his waist and entering the pit but also became unconscious.

“Our men rushed to the scene and successfully rescued both men. Unfortunately, they were found unconscious and later confirmed dead,” Abdullahi stated.

In a similar tragedy, a 33-year-old man, Muhammad Sagir, died after falling into a dry well in Kawon Alhaji Sani Layin Mai, located in Nasarawa Local Government Area.

Abdullahi reported that firefighters from the state headquarters were dispatched immediately and retrieved Sagir from the well, but he was already unconscious and later confirmed dead. His body was handed over to the ward head of Kawon Arewa, Alhaji Hamisu.

The Fire Service PRO appealed to the public to prioritize safety at all times and to promptly report emergencies to the nearest fire station or via the agency’s 24-hour emergency hotline.
