PDP Reform Group Slams Olisa Metuh Over Comments on Acting Chairman Damagum, Demands Ologunagba’s Suspension

The Peoples Democratic Party National Reformation Agenda (PNRA) has strongly condemned recent remarks made by former PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, which it described as an unwarranted attack on the Acting National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum.

In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Comrade Adebayo Oladipo, the group expressed “considerable dismay” over what it termed a “deeply hypocritical” intervention by Chief Metuh, questioning his motives and recalling past instances of similar conduct during his tenure.

The group also took aim at the current PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, accusing him of issuing personal opinions under the guise of official party statements without proper clearance from the party’s leadership.

“Is it now considered appropriate for a figure holding the office of National Publicity Secretary to unilaterally disseminate personal opinions as the official stance of the party?” the PNRA queried, adding that such actions undermine internal party procedures and the authority of the Acting National Chairman.

Referencing Chief Metuh’s time in office between 2012 and 2016, the reform group challenged him to reflect on whether he ever tolerated similar actions from his subordinates.

It also recalled a 2015 incident where Metuh publicly disowned a statement issued by one of his aides, questioning the consistency of his current position.

The PNRA further accused Mr. Ologunagba of overstepping his bounds by responding to a sensitive communication from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) without proper authorization.

According to the group, the matter was already being addressed through a scheduled engagement between Ambassador Damagum and the INEC Chairman, making Ologunagba’s public briefing unnecessary and suspicious.

“His actions constitute a grave circumvention of established protocols and leadership hierarchy,” the statement said, adding that the timing of the press briefing raises serious concerns about Mr. Ologunagba’s motives.

The group concluded by calling for the immediate suspension of Mr. Ologunagba from the party, describing him as “an irresponsible crisis merchant” whose actions are “calculated to sow discord and perpetuate crisis within the PDP.”

Chief Olisa Metuh was also advised to refrain from interfering in internal party matters, with the group noting that he currently holds no official position within the PDP.
