The Osun State Government has declared Friday, June 27, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1447AH.
The announcement was made in an official statement issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Rasheed Aderibigbe, on behalf of the Executive Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.
Governor Adeleke extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful across the state and urged residents to take advantage of the occasion to offer prayers for lasting peace, progress, and prosperity in Osun State and the nation as a whole.
The Governor also encouraged citizens to celebrate the Islamic New Year in an atmosphere of peace and harmony, emphasizing the need for unity as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
“Let us use this spiritual occasion to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice, and mutual respect that the Hijrah embodies,” the statement concluded.
