Alhaji Dalori Appointed Acting APC National Chairman as Ganduje Resigns Amid Controversy|LAGOS EYE NEWS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori as the new Acting National Chairman of the party following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Ganduje, who assumed office in August 2023 after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, stepped down on Friday amid mounting internal pressure and dissatisfaction within the party’s ranks.

According to insider sources, Ganduje was compelled to resign following his inability to manage the APC primary elections for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils, particularly the Bwari Area Council Chairmanship primary, which has been described as a “height of disgrace.”

A source familiar with the developments said: “The obvious and ridiculous outing in Bwari Area Council Chairmanship primary election of the party was the height of disgrace, where the DPO noticeably chased other aspirants away, leaving only Hon. Joshua Musa Ishaku—widely regarded as a stooge of the PDP and someone who did not support President Tinubu during the 2023 presidential primaries.”

The crisis surrounding the primaries reportedly triggered intense pressure from stakeholders, particularly from the North Central zone, who have consistently demanded that the national chairmanship of the party be returned to their region.

Ganduje’s leadership style and the party’s internal power dynamics had also drawn sustained criticism, further weakening his hold on the position.

Sources within the APC National Working Committee (NWC) disclosed that his resignation is part of broader efforts to unify the party and ensure its stability ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As a transitional measure, the party is expected to allow one of its current national vice chairmen, Alhaji Dalori, to serve as acting chairman until a new substantive leader emerges during the APC national convention scheduled for December.
