A team of government officials from key departments in Lagos State recently conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the newly constructed Erelu Way/Dayo Eleku/Community Link Road in Amikanle, within the Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The inspection team comprised representatives from the Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit (PIMU) in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, the Technical Services Department of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, and the Centre for Rural Development (CERUD).
The 1.3-kilometre road project is part of the wider infrastructure renewal initiative under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
The road is expected to improve accessibility, promote socioeconomic growth, attract new investments, and enhance the overall well-being of residents in the community.
The assessment exercise was conducted to evaluate the technical quality of the project, compliance with construction specifications, environmental resilience, aesthetic appeal, and overall value for money—key criteria for determining the road’s readiness for official commissioning.
The inspection team was led by Arc. Awoyemi Yusuf, Deputy Director at the Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit.
He was received by representatives of the construction firm responsible for the project, local Community Development Association (CDA) officials, and residents of the area.
Following the inspection, the team made several technical observations. In response, the contractor, CDA representatives, and residents pledged to collaborate on remedial measures to address identified issues and expedite the road’s readiness for formal commissioning.
Other members of the visiting delegation included Engr. A.A. Onafuwa, Deputy Director of Technical Services, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development; Mr. Olusola Ajisafe, Deputy Director of Public Affairs, CERUD; Mr. Ogunkelu Benedict, Assistant Director (Civil); Mr. Matesun, Chief Engineer (Civil); Mr. Edward Noghese, Chief Technical Officer; and Mr. Ogunlana Rowland from the Admin Department, Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit.
