A wave of violence has swept through Lafiagi, Kwara State, as irate youths set fire to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) office and stormed the palace of the Lafiagi Emir.
The unrest was sparked by the alleged abduction of a POS agent and other individuals, which has further exacerbated the growing concerns over insecurity in the region.
Eyewitnesses report that the youths, fueled by anger and frustration, targeted the NDLEA office and the Emir’s palace, demanding justice and action from the authorities.
“We have been crying and dying in silence,” a resident said in the video clip. “People are being kidnapped every week. We don’t sleep with both eyes closed anymore, and nobody neither the governor, the chairman, nor even the Emir is doing anything about it.”

According to sources, the protest was triggered by accumulated anger over persistent attacks and the lack of an effective response from local and state authorities.
“The youths are exhausted, and there has been no concrete action from the government,” a source stated. “The frequency of attacks has increased, which is why the protest erupted today.”
The situation remains tense, with many calling for calm and urging the authorities to address the underlying issues driving the violence.
