A delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria has paid a condolence visit to the Dantata family in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, following the passing of elder statesman and renowned business magnate, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
Alhaji Dantata died on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94. In accordance with his wishes, he will be buried in the holy city of Madinah on Tuesday.
The delegation, which departed Nigeria on Sunday night and arrived in Madinah early Monday, was led by the Minister of Defence and former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. He was accompanied by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.
Prominent Islamic scholars who joined the delegation include Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, Imam of the Dantata Mosque in Abuja.
Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Alhaji Mustapha Junaid and other members of the Dantata family, including the deceased’s wives, children, and grandchildren, who expressed deep appreciation for the visit.
Delivering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s message, the Minister of Defence conveyed the President’s heartfelt condolences. “The demise of Baba Aminu deeply touches President Tinubu. He prays that Allah grants him Aljannah Firdaus and gives the entire family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he stated.
Also present were Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Ibrahim Moddibbo; the Consular General, Ambassador Muazam Ibrahim Nayaya; and Defence Attaché, Major General Adamu Hassan.
Special prayers were offered for the repose of Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s soul, led by the accompanying clerics.
