In a continued effort to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life for residents and motorists, the Lagos State Government will on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, commission the newly reconstructed Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (formerly Old Dopemu) Road in Agege Local Government Area.
The commissioning of these strategic road projects adds to the 36 roads and five bridges already delivered by the Sanwo-Olu administration in 2025, reflecting the government’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development across the state.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the reconstructed roads are part of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader vision to create sustainable communities, reduce traffic congestion, and boost economic activity through improved connectivity.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road (Old Dopemu Road) serves as a crucial bypass connecting Agege and Alimosho Local Government Areas, linking key routes such as Akowonjo Road, Old Ipaja Road, and the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
Similarly, the Abaranje Road, located in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA, serves as a vital artery within the densely populated Alimosho area, facilitating movement and access for numerous communities in the region.
The completed projects are expected to ease traffic flow, reduce travel time, eliminate frequent flooding, and enhance transportation efficiency. They are also anticipated to stimulate commercial activity and contribute to the economic well-being of residents along the corridor.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing both new and ongoing infrastructure projects despite prevailing economic challenges, ensuring that Lagosians benefit from improved mobility and increased access to economic opportunities.
