Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has mourned the death of legendary Nigerian goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, who passed away on Thursday.
Rufai, fondly known as “Dodomayana,” was a revered figure in Nigerian football history and a former captain of the national team.
In an emotional tribute shared via his social media page, Musa described the late goalkeeper as a true hero whose exceptional reflexes and commanding presence gave Nigerians unforgettable moments on the global football stage.
“Can’t believe I’m typing this — a post to bid farewell to a true giant of Nigerian football, Peter Rufai,” Musa wrote. “Your heroic reflexes and unwavering presence between the posts brought us moments of pride on the world stage.”
He further prayed for strength for Rufai’s family, friends, teammates, and fans, urging them to take solace in the impactful legacy he left behind. Musa said Rufai’s spirit would continue to inspire future generations of Super Eagles players.
“Rest in peace, legend,” Musa concluded, as tributes continue to pour in from across the football world for the departed icon.
