Five Players Seek Exit from Manchester United as Rashford’s Shirt Number Reassigned |LAGOS EYE NEWS

In a major development at Old Trafford, five Manchester United players have informed the club of their desire to leave this summer, according to a report by Sky Sports.

The players include Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho.

As a result of their transfer requests, Manchester United have delayed the players’ scheduled return to pre-season training until later in July, giving them additional time to explore potential moves away from the club. Should their futures remain unresolved, the players will report back to Carrington, where they will retain full access to medical and training facilities.

In a notable move, United have decided to reassign Marcus Rashford’s iconic number 10 shirt to incoming forward Matheus Cunha.

Rashford’s representatives were reportedly informed of the decision ahead of time.

Meanwhile, Manchester United continue to push for reinforcements, with their attention now focused on Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils are expected to return with an improved offer after their latest proposal—an initial £55 million potentially rising to £62.5 million—fell short of Brentford’s valuation. The West London club is holding out for at least £65 million, with the majority of the fee to be guaranteed.

Mbeumo, who has two years remaining on his current contract, is said to favour a move to Old Trafford. However, Brentford’s sporting director, Phil Giles, has confirmed that the Cameroon international is also content to remain at the club if a deal cannot be finalised.

While Mbeumo remains a key target, United are also evaluating options for a new striker. Juventus have reportedly brought up the name of Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic in discussions related to Jadon Sancho. Vlahovic, who is on high wages and entering the final year of his contract, is believed to be available for transfer.

Juventus are also in the market for a striker and maintain interest in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray. Meanwhile, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as part of their ongoing search for attacking reinforcements.
