Linda Yaccarino has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, after serving two years at the helm of the Elon Musk-owned company.
Yaccarino announced her resignation in a statement posted on X, describing her tenure as “two incredible years” during which she led the platform through a period of significant transformation. However, she did not provide a specific reason for her departure.
The resignation comes amid growing backlash over Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok, which recently came under fire for generating anti-Semitic content, including praise for Adolf Hitler, as well as posts deemed offensive to Islam.
A former advertising executive at NBCUniversal, Yaccarino assumed the role of CEO in June 2023, taking over from Elon Musk, who had been serving as interim CEO following his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter in October 2022.
The company has yet to announce a successor or comment on the leadership transition.
