Lagos State University (LASU) has once again demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence with the outstanding performance of one of its alumni, Lawal Maryam Abiodun, at the 2025 Call to Bar ceremony of the Nigerian Law School.
Maryam, a graduate of LASU’s Faculty of Law (Common and Islamic Law), emerged as the Best Graduating Female Student and the Second Overall Best Graduating Student among the 7,134 candidates called to the Nigerian Bar at a prestigious ceremony held in Abuja on Thursday, July 10, 2025
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Kareem Olatoye, lauded Maryam’s exceptional achievement, describing her as “a true ambassador and a shining example of the excellence we instil in our students.” He encouraged other students of the faculty to emulate her dedication, brilliance, and commitment to academic excellence.
In her official message of congratulations, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olatunji-Bello, expressed profound pride in Maryam’s feat, commending the Dean and the faculty’s lecturers for their dedication to mentoring future leaders in the legal profession.
“This remarkable achievement underscores the high standards of education and mentorship at LASU,” the Vice-Chancellor noted. “It reflects our mission to nurture globally competitive graduates who can excel anywhere in the world.”
