President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on the Supreme Court’s affirmation of his election victory.
Governor Okpebholo, who emerged winner of the Edo State governorship election held in September 2024, had his victory upheld on Thursday by the Supreme Court, which dismissed all legal challenges to the outcome declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed the judgment as a reaffirmation of the will of the people and urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory.
He called on Governor Okpebholo to unite the people of Edo State across all divides and focus on a shared vision for the state’s development.
“With the legal hurdles now cleared, Governor Okpebholo should accelerate the delivery of good governance and exceptional services to the people of Edo State—work he has already begun,” the President stated.
President Tinubu also extended his congratulations to the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, urging them to remain united and committed to fulfilling the mandate entrusted to them by the electorate.
