In a major political shift, Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has officially resigned from the Labour Party and declared her alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition.
In a statement following her meeting with ADC officials, Senator Kingibe declared
As a senator, I am fully committed to ADC.
She attributed her departure from the Labour Party to deep internal divisions, describing the party as “fractured and broken,” and expressed skepticism over its chances of winning future elections.
The ADC, now serving as the umbrella platform for a coalition of opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections, has gained momentum.

The coalition includes key political figures like former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who are currently serving in interim leadership roles within the party.
