The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a sweeping victory in the July 12 local government elections across Lagos State, securing all 57 chairmanship positions and 375 out of 376 councillorship seats.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Mobolanle Abidemi Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd.), announced the results during a press briefing held on Sunday in Lagos.
According to her, the APC won chairmanship seats in all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), reaffirming the party’s grip on grassroots politics in the state.
“In the just-concluded local government elections, the All Progressives Congress emerged victorious in all chairmanship positions across the 57 councils in the state,” she stated.

“The party also clinched 375 out of 376 councillorship seats. The only councillorship seat not secured by the APC was in Yaba LCDA, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed victory.”
The elections were held under tight security across polling units in the state, with voter turnout described by observers as moderate.
