The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has disclaimed a fraudulent notice circulating in the state titled “Notification of LASPA’s On-Street Abandoned Car Scheme Kicking Out at Designate Street in Lagos State by June, 2025.”
The forged letter, allegedly signed by one “Mrs. Adeniran Adelabi” who falsely claimed to be LASPA’s General Manager, has been declared fake and misleading.
According to LASPA, the false notice was used by unidentified individuals on Friday, July 11, 2025, to unlawfully tow a sky-blue Nissan Primera 2.0 with registration number KV 948 KJA from the residence of Mr. George Tokuibiye in Ifako Ijaiye to an undisclosed location.
In an official statement signed by the authentic General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, the Authority clarified that it had no connection with the said letter, which neither bears its official letterhead nor correct contact information.
She emphasized that LASPA has not commenced on-street parking enforcement in the Ifako Ijaiye Local Council Development Area.
“LASPA maintains a clear policy of issuing formal warnings to individuals or organizations violating parking regulations before any enforcement is carried out,” the statement reads.
To ensure proper identification, LASPA noted that all its officials are required to wear branded vests or T-shirts, carry official identity cards featuring QR codes, and display the Lagos State and LASPA logos when conducting enforcement duties.
The Authority advised the public to remain vigilant and avoid dealing with anyone claiming to represent LASPA without proper verification. Residents are encouraged to confirm the authenticity of any LASPA notice through the agency’s official channels or by contacting their hotlines: 0700-00-52772, 02-01-2275230, or 02-01-2275231. Inquiries can also be made at LASPA’s head office located at 36B Sasegbon Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
LASPA urges all residents to report suspicious or unauthorized parking enforcement activities to the relevant authorities promptly.
