The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has revealed that its recently launched Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered business registration portal now processes more than 11,000 transactions daily.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, the Commission acknowledged ongoing technical issues affecting some users but assured that these challenges were being addressed.
The issues, flagged mostly by legal practitioners, include identity verification glitches and payment processing difficulties that have impacted the overall user experience.
Since its rollout on June 30, the AI-driven portal has significantly improved registration efficiency.
According to the CAC, business registration certificates are now issued within 30 minutes once a director’s National Identification Number (NIN) is successfully verified. The portal also enables users to test multiple business name options at no cost, reducing entry barriers for startups and entrepreneurs.
“You can’t compare AI with humans for service delivery. We now handle over 11,000 cases daily,” the Commission stated. “Last Friday alone, we received 8,000 name reservation requests, all processed the same day. That would have taken two weeks manually. Automation through intelligence is necessary. It’s a change we must accept.”
The CAC attributed some of the system’s slowdowns to its reliance on external platforms, notably the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) portal, which it said has been offline for several weeks, preventing real-time NIN confirmation.
To manage user feedback, the CAC has also introduced a dedicated help desk portal, which it said processes up to 3,000 complaint emails daily.
The Commission noted that ongoing software updates are being deployed to resolve service disruptions, with full system functionality expected to be restored soon.
