The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced a total remittance of N6.96 trillion to the Federation Account between January and May 2025, underscoring its pivotal role in national revenue generation.
The figures were disclosed in the company’s Monthly Report Summary for June, released on Monday. According to the report, the cumulative remittance increased from N5.58 trillion as of April, reflecting enhanced operational performance and stronger revenue inflows.
NNPC also reported a Profit After Tax (PAT) of N905 billion for June, marking a decline from the N1.054 trillion posted in May. The drop in profit corresponded with a decrease in revenue, which fell to N4.57 trillion in June from N6.01 trillion in the previous month, amid volatility in the global oil market.
Despite the revenue dip, the company recorded progress in upstream operations. Crude oil and condensate production climbed to 1.68 million barrels per day (bpd) in June, up from 1.629 million bpd in May—the highest output since January. Similarly, natural gas production rose to 7.58 billion standard cubic feet per day (scf/d) from 7.35 billion scf/d in May.
NNPC also reported improved fuel supply through its retail outlets, which rose to 71 percent in June from 62 percent in May, helping to ease concerns over petrol availability nationwide.
The report further highlighted progress in major gas infrastructure projects. The Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) gas pipeline has reached 83 percent completion, while the OB3 pipeline stands at 96 percent. A significant milestone was achieved on the AKK project with the successful River Niger crossing, a development expected to reduce project completion risks. Similar technical assessments are ongoing for the OB3 project.
Pipeline availability in upstream operations slightly declined from 98 percent in May to 97 percent in June. Meanwhile, the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries remains under review.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, NNPC disclosed that over 67,000 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members received training in financial literacy during June, bringing the total number of beneficiaries under the initiative to 870,383.
All figures in the report are provisional and subject to reconciliation with relevant stakeholders. NNPC reaffirmed its position as a strategic national asset and a major contributor to Nigeria’s revenue amid ongoing economic reforms and fiscal adjustments.
