In a significant political development in Osun State, Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, the member representing Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing irreconcilable internal crises and ideological differences.
Ajilesoro, in a resignation letter addressed to the party’s leadership, declared his immediate withdrawal from the PDP, lamenting what he described as a “persistent culture of internal conflict and legal wrangling” that has plagued the party.
“This decision, though difficult, has become necessary due to the persistent internal conflicts, deep-seated divisions, and the pervasive culture of legal disputes that have unfortunately come to characterize the party,” the lawmaker stated.
“These factors have made it increasingly challenging for me to reconcile my continued membership with my personal convictions and aspirations for effective governance.”
While expressing appreciation to the PDP for the platform it provided him to serve, Ajilesoro expressed hope that his decision would be received in good faith.

His exit marks another high-profile defection from the PDP in recent months, further deepening the cracks within the opposition party amid ongoing leadership disputes and factional divisions.
A reliable source within both the PDP and APC confided in Lagos Eye News that Ajilesoro is set to formally declare for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming days.
The source also hinted at a broader defection wave, revealing ongoing clandestine moves to woo Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Adeleke, into the APC fold.
“I can confirm to you that all plans are going on behind the door to bring our governor, Ademola Jackson Adeleke, to join APC. It is achievable just wait and see what will happen soon,” the source disclosed.
