Nigeria sealed a dramatic 2-1 victory over defending champions South Africa with a stoppage-time winner, booking their place in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The decisive moment came from a late delivery by Michelle Alozie, which evaded Banyana Banyana goalkeeper Andile Dlamini, sending the Super Falcons into Saturday’s final and keeping their hopes of a record-extending 10th title alive.
Nigeria will now face the winner of Tuesday’s second semi-final between hosts Morocco and Ghana.
The hard-fought win signals a bold statement of intent from the Super Falcons as they push to reclaim their status as the continent’s dominant force.
