Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has been handed a two-month suspension by the Italian football authorities for violations related to fair play regulations.
According to multiple reports, the ban follows an investigation into irregular betting activities involving the Nigerian international.
Okoye was alleged to have collaborated with a local pizzeria in Udinese, which placed a bet and won over €120,000.
The probe revealed his involvement, but he avoided a potential four-year ban after reportedly cooperating with authorities.
The incident dates back to March 11, 2024, during a Serie A clash between Udinese and Lazio.
Okoye was booked for time-wasting in the 64th minute while Udinese were leading 2-1 — a moment believed to be linked to the suspicious betting pattern.
The two-month suspension will begin on August 18, 2025, when Udinese face Carrarese in the Coppa Italia. The ban will run through October 19, during which Okoye is expected to miss six Serie A matches.
