LASPA Begins Enforcement Against Indiscriminate Parking at Lagos State Secretariat |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has commenced strict enforcement against indiscriminate parking within the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, as part of efforts to address traffic congestion and restore order in the area.

The LASPA Monitoring and Enforcement Team stormed the Secretariat, issuing removal notices to vehicles found violating the State Parking Regulations. Offenders included those who parked on kerbs, walkways, engaged in double parking, and parked in areas marked with “No Parking” signage.

During the operation, LASPA also observed that some vehicle owners non-government officials with offices near the Secretariat routinely use the premises for parking. This practice, the Authority noted, places undue pressure on the facility and contributes to congestion.

Consequently, a 24-hour ultimatum was issued to the owners of all offending vehicles, directing them to remove the vehicles or risk having them towed away.

The move follows a directive by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, during the July edition of the Monthly Walk for Fitness Exercise. Agoro had urged LASPA to begin enforcement of parking regulations within the State Secretariat in Ikeja and the Old Secretariat, ahead of a statewide exercise.

LASPA has appealed to all Lagos residents to adhere to the State Parking Regulations by embracing proper parking habits. This includes obeying designated parking signs and avoiding actions that obstruct traffic flow.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to curbing indiscriminate parking across the state to ensure a safer and more organized environment.
