The Super Falcons of Nigeria have formally expressed their appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for their unwavering support during the team’s successful campaign at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

In a letter of appreciation addressed to the Presidency and signed by team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, the team lauded the President for the generous rewards and warm reception hosted in their honour following their WAFCON victory.

“Mr. President, we are especially grateful for the generous rewards extended to the entire team at the gallant reception set up for us. It was a gesture that deeply affirms the value of women’s football in Nigeria, and inspires us to keep striving for excellence,” the statement read.

The team also commended the First Lady for her messages of encouragement and support throughout the tournament, noting that her words boosted team morale and reminded them of the nation’s pride and expectations.

“Your belief in us made a real difference,” the team captain wrote, affirming that the victory was not just for the team but for all Nigerians.

The Super Falcons emerged champions of the 2024 WAFCON tournament, further cementing their dominance in African women’s football.
