A Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has handed down a death sentence to Abdulrahman Bello, a self-proclaimed Islamic cleric, for the murder of Hafsoh Lawal, a final-year student at the College of Education, Ilorin.Justice Hannah Ajayi delivered the judgment, condemning the murder as “the highest degree of human wickedness.”Bello was found guilty of luring Hafsoh to his home, killing her for ritual purposes, and dismembering her body.Four other defendants were discharged and acquitted due to lack of evidence.The case sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice following Hafsoh’s disappearance on February 10, 2025.
