Oyo’s New Police Commissioner Promises Effective, Peace-Oriented Policing|LAGOS EYE NEWS

The 48th Police Commissioner in Oyo State, Olufemi Haruna, has formally assumed office with assurance that Oyo State will experience a robust policing environment that promotes peace and tranquility under his watch.

Addressing newsmen in his office, CP Haruna said the Oyo State Police Command, under his watch would continue to uphold its statutory responsibilities without prejudice to background, orientation, philosophy, religion or association.

He acknowledged the unwavering commitment of the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde to providing enabling atmosphere for security agencies to effectively confront security threats, noting that the foundation laid by his predecessor would be built upon for the sustenance of relative peace being enjoyed by the residents of the State.

CP Haruna stressed the determination of the police command to continue to work assiduously with sister security agencies, credible informants, Vigilante groups, Western Nigeria Security Network code-named (Amotekun), and the media to degrade the pockets of criminal activities including, Kidnapping, Illegal mining, Land grabbing, Cult clashes, and Robbery.

Unveiling the strategic action plan of the state Police command, under his watch, he said the Command will be consolidating on the already existing security modalities to further accommodate more actionable tools in a bid to clampdown on criminal elements in the State.

The new Police Commissioner in the State, Olufemi Haruna was until the new appointment was the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Force Intelligence Bureau.
