The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, ordained over 15,000 clerics during the second day of its 73rd Annual Convention, themed “The Overcomers.”

The spiritual exercise, held at the Old Auditorium of the Redemption Camp now known as Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, saw the ordination of 10,343 candidates as Deacons and Deaconesses, and 5,484 others as Assistant Pastors.

The solemn ceremony was supervised by the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, with support from other senior leaders.

In accordance with RCCG tradition, the ordained clerics were first presented to the General Overseer by Pastor Sunday Akande, the National Overseer of the Mission.

The ordination rite involved the laying on of hands, performed by the Assistant General Overseers.

While Deacons and Deaconesses were ordained through laying on of hands alone, Assistant Pastors also received anointing with oil as part of their spiritual commissioning.

The day’s plenary session commenced at about 7:00 p.m. with fervent prayers, followed by praise and worship led by the church’s sophisticated musical ensemble and the mass choir, setting an atmosphere of deep spiritual reflection.

LAGOS EYE NEWS observed that the Old Auditorium was near full capacity, while the New Auditorium in Shimawa is also rapidly filling up, reflecting the massive turnout of worshippers across the continent.

Traders from various states across Nigeria were also present at the Redemption Camp to engage in commercial activities during the week-long faith-based event.
