The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has decorated Sentome Obi with a new rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) for rejecting a $17,000 bribe offered by criminals to release a suspected kidnapper.
Obi, who was previously a Superintendent of Police, turned down the bribe and upheld professional conduct during a high-profile kidnapping case.
Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, had earlier rewarded Obi with a three-bedroom apartment, a car, and recommended him for promotion to the IGP.
Alongside Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aliyu Shaba, Obi was named one of the best police officers for 2023 and 2024.
Both officers received accelerated promotion in recognition of their dedication and outstanding service.
