K1 De Ultimate’s Airport Scuffle Triggers FAAN Probe Over Alleged Security Breach|LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched an investigation into a security breach involving renowned Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, following an altercation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 5, during boarding for ValueJet Flight VK 201 to Lagos. According to a statement released by FAAN on Wednesday, the veteran artiste attempted to bring an undeclared liquidlater identified as alcohol aboard the aircraft, contravening aviation safety regulations.

FAAN stated that K1 De Ultimate disregarded repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) officials and the aircraft’s captain, who reminded him of the 100-millilitre liquid restriction stipulated by Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Security Programme and ICAO Annex 17.

“Despite being informed of these regulations, the passenger declined to comply and, in the process, allegedly poured the contents of the flask on a ValueJet security officer,” FAAN said in the official statement.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the situation escalated further when the singer reportedly refused to vacate the aircraft’s front section after boarding had closed, causing a delay in the flight’s departure.

AVSEC’s Crime Investigation and Intelligence Unit subsequently escorted him off the aircraft for questioning. He was later released.

The confrontation has triggered widespread debate online, with many Nigerians condemning what they describe as VIP impunity at public facilities.

In response, FAAN stressed that “no individual, regardless of status, is above the rules governing civil aviation.”

Aviation experts have echoed FAAN’s stance, calling for stricter enforcement of passenger conduct rules to prevent safety compromises and preserve order within the aviation sector.

FAAN reaffirmed its commitment to upholding professionalism and enforcing all aviation laws, adding that appropriate sanctions would be applied to anyone found guilty in the matter.
