The Lagos State Government has issued a stern warning to residents living in flood-prone areas, particularly in Lekki, Ikorodu, and Ajegunle, urging them to relocate immediately as heavy rainfall continues to trigger flash floods across the state.
The directive comes in the wake of persistent downpours that have caused rising water levels in several communities.
Authorities warn that the situation could deteriorate further in the coming days due to ongoing rainfall and inadequate drainage infrastructure in some parts of the state.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the government emphasized that the safety of lives and property remains paramount. Residents in high-risk zones were advised to take early warnings seriously and adopt all necessary preventive measures to avoid being caught unprepared during possible flood incidents.
“All emergency response agencies are on high alert to ensure timely rescue operations and provide necessary relief to affected residents,” the statement noted.
The government reiterated its commitment to mitigating the impact of the floods while calling for public cooperation in responding proactively to climate-related threats.
