The Osun State Police Command has apprehended eight persons in connection with an alleged ritual killing attempt in Ikire.
Police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the incident occurred on July 26, 2025, around 4:00 p.m., when three young men identified as Ismail Abiodun, 22; Usman Ademola, 22; and 16-year-old Faruq Abudu went to cut grass at Arademi Area, Ikire.
After completing the work, Abiodun and Ademola allegedly lured Faruq into a remote bush, attacked him, and cut open his abdomen in an attempt to remove his vital organs.
They reportedly severed the victim’s scrotum but fled when he raised the alarm.
Police operatives arrived swiftly at the scene, rescued the injured teenager, and took him to a nearby hospital before he was transferred to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, for further treatment.
Those arrested in connection with the incident include Ismail Abiodun, Usman Ademola, Yonke Akinwale, Fatai Abiodun, Fatai Sikiru, Tawa Inakonko, Idowu Adesina, and Awotunde Saudat.
Ojelabi confirmed that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the probe.
