The Oyo State Government has commenced the training of 18,000 primary and junior secondary school teachers across the 33 local government areas of the state, in a move aimed at enhancing digital learning.
At the flag-off ceremony held at Emmanuel College, Agbowo, Ibadan, the government also distributed tablets and instructional materials to the beneficiaries.
Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his deputy, Barr. Bayo Lawal, said the programme was part of his administration’s commitment to empowering educators and equipping them with modern teaching tools to deliver quality education.
He noted that the instructional materials and teaching aids would enhance pupils’ and students’ ability to compete nationally and internationally, while also enabling teachers to adopt up-to-date teaching methods in line with global standards.
Makinde further disclosed that the project was facilitated by the Global Partnership for Education and sponsored by the World Bank, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYSUBEB).
