Tinubu Appoints Pedro as DG NTA |LAGOS EYE NEWS

President Bola Tinubu has approved a major overhaul of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), appointing renowned media entrepreneur Rotimi Richard Pedro as the new Director-General of the state-owned broadcaster.

The changes, include the replacement of the entire top management of the national network as part of efforts to modernise the organisation and reposition it within Nigeria’s rapidly evolving media landscape.

Alongside Pedro’s appointment, the President named Karimah Bello as Executive Director of Marketing, Stella Din as Executive Director of News, and Sophia Essahmed as Managing Director of NTA Enterprises Limited, the station’s commercial arm.

Pedro, who hails from Lagos State, brings nearly 30 years of experience in broadcast leadership, sports rights management and media consultancy across Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

He is best known as the founder of Optima Sports Management International (OSMI), once a leading supplier of premium sports content, including the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FIFA World Cup, to over 40 African countries.

A former intellectual property lawyer, Pedro holds an MSc in Investment Management and Finance from City University Business School, London.

His career includes senior roles at Bloomberg Television Africa and leading format production company Rapid Blue Format. He has also consulted for leading global media bodies such as FIFA, UEFA and Fremantle Media.

The appointments take immediate effect.
