Fresh FM Nigeria has confirmed that a major fire broke out at its Ibadan headquarters on Friday night, destroying key broadcasting facilities.

In a statement issued by the management, the station disclosed that the blaze gutted the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, as well as the newsroom, transmitter and server rooms, and other essential equipment.

Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs, said initial attempts by staff to extinguish the fire with in-house equipment were unsuccessful due to its intensity. Professional firefighters were later called in to contain the inferno.

While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The statement partly read:

*“We are sad to inform the general public that the Head Office of Fresh FM Nigeria, Challenge – Ibadan was razed by a devastating fire incident this evening, August 15, 2025. The studios of Fresh 105.9 and Blast 98.3 were badly burnt, with proximal offices like the newsroom, the transmitter/server room and several equipment destroyed during active operations.

All efforts to fight the fire before the arrival of professional firefighters proved abortive because of the strength of the inferno. We can’t immediately quantify the extent of the damage caused by the incident, the cause of which is yet to be ascertained.

We heartily appreciate everyone – residents around our studio complex who were the first responders, passersby, and officials of the Oyo Fire Service – for their assistance during the emergency.”*

No casualties were reported at the time of filing this report.
