Senate President, Akpabio Returns from London, Denies Ill-Health Rumours|LAGOS EYE NEWS

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has returned to the country after what his media office described as a brief vacation in London.

Akpabio, who arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, around 4:00 a.m. on Monday, was received at the presidential wing by senators, aides, and supporters.

Speaking to journalists shortly after his arrival, the Senate President dismissed reports circulating on social media that he was critically ill and hospitalised abroad.

“There is nothing like that. I am as fit as a fiddle,” he said, describing the speculation as the imagination of rumour-mongers.

Akpabio explained that he had attended the sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 29 to 31, before proceeding to London for a short vacation.

He added that the Nigerian delegation made significant contributions at the Geneva conference, particularly in pushing for stronger democratic governance and improved collaboration between arms of government.

The Senate President assured Nigerians that the National Assembly would resume with robust legislative activities when it reconvenes.
