Nigerians planning to travel to the United States will now have to meet an additional visa requirement.
The U.S. government has announced that all applicants must disclose their social media usernames and handles covering the past five years when completing the DS-160 visa application form.
In a statement released via its official Facebook page, the U.S. authorities explained that applicants are required to provide details of every social media platform they have used within the stated period.
Applicants must also certify that the information supplied is accurate before signing and submitting their forms.
The statement further cautioned that omitting social media information, or providing false details, could result in visa denial and even render an applicant ineligible for future U.S. visas.
