The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce has arrested 32 suspected drug abusers during a midnight operation in Agidingbi and Ikeja GRA.
The raid, which commenced around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, targeted known hotspots linked to illicit activities. Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the development, listing the areas covered as Alausa CBD, NERDC Road, Alhaja Ashabi Cole Street, the frontage of the African Shrine in Agidingbi, Adekunle Fajuyi Way, Shobo Arobiodu, Isaac John Street, and Oba Akinjobi Road in Ikeja GRA.
According to Wahab, 25 males and 7 females were apprehended during the operation.
The suspects were allegedly found with hard drugs, including substances suspected to be Indian hemp, codeine, and other narcotics. They are expected to be charged in court.
The commissioner noted that the exercise was part of government’s renewed effort to restore sanity to the state and rid it of criminal hideouts.
He added that the administration remains resolute in ensuring a safe and secure environment for residents.
“The operation underscores our determination to confront the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in Lagos. We will not relent in our efforts to protect lives and property,” Wahab stated.
