Ibadan is set to witness history as the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, will be crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025—just a day after celebrating his 81st birthday.
The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) gathered exclusively that Governor Seyi Makinde has approved Ladoja’s nomination, paving the way for his enthronement.
A state delegation on Wednesday met with the monarch-designate and members of the Olubadan-in-Council at his Bodija residence to finalize coronation arrangements.
Confirming the development, Ladoja’s media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, told journalists:
“Oba Ladoja will be enthroned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, 26 September 2025.”
The grand coronation ceremony will hold at the historic Mapo Hall in the heart of Ibadan.
It was further learnt that Ladoja had earlier met with the kingmakers on Tuesday at his private residence on Ondo Street, Old Bodija, Ibadan North Local Government Area. The closed-door meeting was the first since his return following the demise of the immediate past Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin lasted nearly two hours.
