The Benue State House of Assembly has elected Hon. Alfred Aondover Emberga, member representing Makurdi North State Constituency, as the new Speaker of the 10th Assembly.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia congratulated the new Speaker, describing his election as “a testament to the confidence reposed in him by his colleagues and a reflection of his ability to uphold democratic values.”
Governor Alia commended the House for the swift and peaceful process that produced a new presiding officer, expressing optimism that under Hon. Emberga’s leadership, the Assembly will continue to formulate and enact laws that improve the lives of Benue people.
The Governor further urged the legislative arm to sustain a cordial working relationship with both the executive and the judiciary, stressing that cooperation among the three arms of government is critical to achieving sustainable development and delivering democratic dividends to citizens.
While acknowledging the contributions of the outgone Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dajoh, Governor Alia assured the new leadership of the Assembly of his unwavering support and commitment to work collectively for the progress of Benue State.
