The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has unveiled the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) Digital Portal alongside the Strategic Vision for Nigerian Teachers, describing both initiatives as major milestones in transforming the education sector and repositioning the teaching profession.
The newly launched digital portal will serve as a comprehensive national teacher database, streamlining registration, licensing, renewals, and professional development. Through the portal, which is accessible via www.trcn.gov.ng, teachers across the country can register, update records, process licenses, check examination results, and print certificates remotely.
Dr. Alausa further highlighted the Strategic Vision for Nigerian Teachers, which is anchored on professionalization, digitalization, accountability, equity, and global alignment.
He also introduced a Teacher Ethics and Criminal Record Verification Framework aimed at safeguarding classrooms, noting that the policy is designed to be protective rather than punitive.
The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, said the portal marks a redefinition of professionalism in the sector, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by equipping teachers with digital tools to enhance efficiency.
Registrar of the TRCN, Dr. Ronke Soyombo, described the portal as part of her 100-day digitization plan, noting that reforms now streamline the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) into five core areas.
She also announced the launch of an AI-powered lesson plan generator to support teachers in lesson delivery.
Hon. Mohammed Isa emphasized inclusivity, assuring that the platform accommodates persons with disabilities. International partners, including the British Council and the British High Commission, commended the initiative, citing its transparency and its potential to boost teacher motivation.
Chief Executive Officer of TeckPlus Digital Solutions, Dr. Patrick Adeleye, explained that the innovation would help resolve Nigeria’s longstanding gaps in teacher data management.
The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and high professional standards, stressing that teachers remain central to national development.
